Recently I was looking through some old notes and photos from 19 years ago. I realized that I did not start my ecommerce business in my garage, but started it in my Chevy Suburban!
At that time I was doing computer network security work for a large pharmaceutical company. I had a horrible 1 1/2 to 2 hour commute each way.
I would keep inventory With my laptop, label printer and inverter, I’d pack boxes and print shipping labels in my Chevy Suburban during my lunch hour and drop them off at the UPS store.
Within 30 days, lunch hour was not long enough and I had to choose between the full time job or take a chance with ecommerce. I convinced my wife that I could make this new venture work. I gave notice that I was leaving my job.
That was 2001...
